- Oops, I was a little confused. KE6FG software was listed in Ham Radio
- for the Macintosh as a control program for ICOM radios. This is the letter
- that was returned. I haven't received the demo disk for RadioRunner yet
- (it hasn't been that long) but it is published by another company.
-
- I still would be interested in the wherabouts of KE6FG Software or
- any experiences anyone has with remote controlling ICOMS with Macs.
- Thanks.

-
- I sent off for a demo disk for RadioRunner - a radio control,
- shortwave schedule/log, and greyline clock program. A partial demo was
- contained in "Greyline Clock" found in the Ham Radio Library on AOL. It
- was apparently downloaded sometime around 1991-1992. My letter to the
- Tujunga, CA address was returned as "forwarding order expired."
-
- Does anybody
- 1) know the wherabouts of KE6FG software?(if it is still a live entity)
- and
- 2) any experience with this program (or something similar) and have any
- recommendations?
-
- I am trying to control an ICOM 735 via a Macintosh SE-30 and use it
- mainly for SWL. Thanks a whole bunch in advance for your Email or
- newsgroup reply.

- I was talking to my dad tonight and asked him if he remembers what those
- rubber strips were on old cars. He said they had braided metal wire in
- them, and that yes, they were for static discharge. I guess as the car
- is moving, the wind under the car would lift these strips up into the

- To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
-
- Hi,
-
- I am looking for information on how to build a serial cable
- for my Kenwood TS-50. Kenwood wants $100 and MFJ is now
- selling one for $50. After saving for over a year for the radio
- I really can't spend even $50. Since MFJ is making one, it can't
- be too hard. If anyone can tell me how, I would really appreciate
- it. Also, if possible I would like to know how to talk to the radio
- after building a cable. Does anyone have this information?
-
- Please respond by e-mail so that I can summarize for everyone else.
- Also, my news feed only works occasionaly and I might miss a general
- response.
-
- My address is: levin@cosmic.physics.utah.edu
-
- Thanks in advance.

- I'm entirely agreeing with Bill here. As an ARRL member myself,
- a General Class amateur licensed for 7 months, intrested in the
- hobby for alot longer than that, a member of the local ARES/RACES
- organization, emergency responder, and other applicable positions,
- I thing that there is nothing wrong with this hobby, it's regulation,
- and examination and licensing procedures except for the time it
- takes to get your license.
-
- This hobby is well-patrolled with "radio cops". Our local repeater
- has a person on top of the bootlegger about 5 minutes after (s)he's
- on the air. We also have one of the best DF'ers in the country right
- in our area who tracks down many-a-jammers. The Volunteer
- Examiner program is one that releives the burden off of the FCC
- and makes OUR job of getting a license easier by not having to
- hike it 20 miles to the nearest FCC Field Office.
-
- Whatever your problem with the hobby is...get over it.
